Kenneth Auerbach is a partner with the Firm. He concentrates his practice in all aspects of municipal law, including complex transactional matters and labor and employment law. He also concentrates his practice in the areas of zoning and land use planning, environmental law including SEQRA, and litigation. Mr. Auerbach serves as general counsel to the Village of Old Westbury and the Village of Sands Point, and also serves as special counsel to several other municipalities. He also represents private sector clients in all of his practice areas. Mr. Auerbach is a member of the Municipal Law Section of the New York State Bar Association and is a past Vice Chairman of the Binghamton Urban Renewal Agency. He is frequently invited to speak before professional groups in his areas of expertise. He is peer rated AV by Martindale Hubbell, the highest rating achievable for legal skill and ethics. Previously, Mr. Auerbach was counsel with the municipal law practice group at a prominent Long Island law firm. Mr. Auerbach also served as the Corporation Counsel of the City of Binghamton for eight years, where his responsibilities included serving as the City’s chief litigator, transactional attorney and labor negotiator. He was also counsel to the Binghamton Local Development Corporation and Urban Renewal Agency, in which capacity he was involved extensively in all phases of community development and urban renewal. He has more recently represented both Nassau and Suffolk County and several towns and villages. Mr. Auerbach is admitted to practice in the State of New York and before the United States District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, and Western Districts of New York and the United States Court of Appeals, Second Circuit. Mr. Auerbach received his Juris Doctor from Albany Law School of Union University (1976) and his Bachelor of Arts degree (Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude), from the State University of New York at Buffalo (1973).
